    Four people have been convicted of subjecting a vulnerable man to a violent ordeal which included blowing chilli powder in his eyes. Danny Partridge, 25, has been jailed for his part in the cruel assault which happened in Barnstaple. Three co-defendants who appeared with him for sentence at Exeter Crown Court were spared prison. Paul Healey, Ashley Burton and Victoria Youd all pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm.

    Police have been called to investigate a thefts blitz at farms in Devon overnight. A gang of masked men were seen roaming the North Devon countryside in the dead of night and 'casing' farms. CCTV showed a man outside barns in South Molton while thefts were also reported in Combe Martin and on Exmoor. Farmers have reported a number of suspicious incidents over Easter weekend in Devon. Sheep, stock boxes and machinery are among the items to have been stolen on Sunday night (April 20).

    A daughter is heartbroken after her "strong and graceful" mum was taken by a little-known killer. Karolina Jaworek is mourning after her mum, Jwona Maloglou, died at the age of 63 in March. She was given a shock diagnosis of eye cancer in 2011 and, despite the best efforts of doctors, researchers, and charities, sadly nothing could be done. Now Karolina is taking part in a charity swim in Devon and dedicating it to the memory of her mum.

    A motorcyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash in Weston-super-Mare. Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the single-vehicle collision which happened last night (Sunday, April 20). The road was closed for more than six hours overnight while the scene was investigated. It was reopened at 5am today (Monday, April 21). Avon and Somerset Police has issued a statement.
