In December, the British Medical Journal ran an article by Richard Hurley that explained how “hospital radio is evolving from offering companionship on the wards to bringing health and wellbeing broadcasting to the community.” At Torbay Hospital Radio, our prime objective is to reach the patients in the hospital and keep them entertained with relevant shows. With this in mind, it was reassuring to read the article.

What’s New for the New Year? So, as we enter 2025, I was wondering what new music we have in store from established stars and new artists that we may not have heard of. The year just gone was undoubtedly the year of Taylor Swift. The USA Billboard crowned her the artist of the year, and what with her spectacular “Eras” tour, it’s difficult to think anything will be different this year.

Watch out, here it comes again. What, I hear you say, well Christmas of course. We all love it, don’t we? Well, no, some do not, and I have to say since I was a kid, the festive season seems to have gotten longer and longer. I am sure I am not imagining it; what happens is driven by money, of course, with retailers looking to maximise their return from the most lucrative time of the year. I mean, who can blame them? It has been a tough time for the shops over the last couple of years.

4 1/1 THE River Severn is like many rivers across the world that have changed their course and use over thousands of years. Today they are usually in the news for negative reasons, including flooding or pollution levels. In Worcester’s past, long before roads and land vehicles, the river was an important artery. Waterways did not divide people but united them as one. When the Romans arrived in around 50AD, they chose an area we now call Diglis as a harbour.
