By BLAKE BEDDINGFIELD, special contributorNASHVILLE, Tenn., -- The 2025 NFL draft will go down as one of the most unpredictable drafts in recent memory.  This is an imperfect draft with a lot of imperfect prospects.  The lack of high-end talent will force teams to select need players at positions where they can have a starting role early in Year One like offensive linemen, nickel corners and defensive linemen.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- We tend to slip into a place where we think the Titans will cure all their ills with this draft. Eight picks, eight needs filled. Really, two positions should get answers with the No. 1 and No. 35 picks. And then you hope out of 103, 120, 141, 167, 178 and 188 they manage to find a home run who is a year-one starter and a couple of contributors. It's not as if eight holes on the two-deep are automatically filled. And something is going unaddressed.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lost in the Titans’ first-round failures and their big positional issues on the offensive line and at receiver and covered up by the grand success of Derrick Henry and the solid debut of Tony Pollard, is their poor drafting at running back. Darrynton Evans was a third-round bust in 2020, Hasaan Haskins brought little as a fourth-rounder in 2022 and 2023 third-rounder Tyjae Spears is dynamic in space, he just hardly gets in any.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Chad Brinker’s been pretty free about what he likes in cornerbacks and it starts with 72 inches. Sure, there are successful covermen around the NFL who are not 6-feet tall. The Titans' starting lineup already features two effective sub-6-foot corners: fifth-round find Jarvis Brownlee (5-11) and their preferred nickel, Roger McCreary (5-11). Given a choice, however, Brinker typically leaned to 6-foot-tall corners.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- At the NFL scouting combine, I picked up on a vibe that the Titans weren't thrilled with L'Jarius Sneed because of "stuff" that went beyond his 2024 injury that limited him to five games in his first season with the team. I poked around but didn't come up with anything. The AP reported late last week that a Texas man is accusing Sneed or his assistant of shooting at Christian Nshimiyimana at a car dealership in Carrollton, Texas, in early December of 2024.
