This report from Brenton Sweeney, manager of the Irish Feeder Team who competed at the 14th World Feeder Championships this week in Lithuania: So that’s the 14th World Feeder Championships finished in Lithuania. We have finished a very respectable 8th out of 22 countries on a tough River Skirvyte on the Russian/Lithuanian border.

Hit the ground running today!I dragged myself away from a usual haunt to try one of many marks I had saved previously while out walking the coastline. We all have these spots, I’m sure. A feature on the beach where there is a bit of a reef or a sand bar.

Mick Flanagan of Midlands Angling and Shooting has been fishing hard this week, for both trout and pike. Early in the week, Mick and old pal Frank had some lovely fishing on Lough Lene, where the trout were active and hitting lures hard over deeper water. Lure caught Lene trout Later in the week, Mick’s pal James Murray returned from New York once again to target pike on the fly.

The reigning World Champions, Team Ireland Feeder , are in Lithuania and have completed two days of training on the mighty Skirvytė River. On Tuesday, the team took part in the Official Opening Ceremony, marking the start of what promises to be a thrilling championship campaign. The Skirvytė River, a powerful 9km-long waterway up to 400m wide, presents a unique challenge for them. Known for its fast-flowing current, it’s a venue unlike any the team has faced before.
