Six San Diego County organizations received seven grants in the first round of “shovel-ready” funding for Proposition 1, the statewide ballot measure that approved borrowing $6.4 billion to fund building more mental health and drug and alcohol treatment capacity statewide. San Diego County’s awards, the second most in the state after Los Angeles County, total $185 million, an amount that is projected to create 350 new local treatment beds.
