Snarky to point out that eggs cost a lot more than $3.25 a dozen? In the broadcast, the anchors did explain that egg prices had been going down, though still higher than a year ago. But the point of the story was to explain WHY they'd risen so high: market forces.

It's worse than that, Byron. My best friend and I asked our French teacher how to say "cool as a moose" in French. She couldn't come up with the translation of moose so we defaulted to "frais comme un moose." This was almost exactly a half century before Google translate debuted.

"Inexpensive" is a relative term. We pay for social services for just about all low-wage workers -- that's the "safety net." Probably least of all for undocumented immigrants, who don't qualify for so many of them.
