IntroductionMembers of the Ophiostomatales are usually characterized by producing ascocarps with asci that are randomly produced at the base of the ascocarp, and these asci deliquesce with the ascospores being released as a sticky droplet at the tip of the perithecial necks. In addition, many members produce slimy/sticky conidia on long-stalked conidiophores. These are morphological features that facilitate the dispersal of their spores by arthropods (Six and Wingfield, 2011).
