Purifying hydrocarbons with advanced separation processes (e.g. adsorption, membranes, etc.) is crucial in petrochemical industry due to the high energy penalty of the conventional separation processes of chemical mixtures (e.g. distillation).1 In the manufacture of gasoline, its quality is measured by the research octane number (RON) above 90, fundamental for the efficient combustion of thermal engines.
