If adversity was baloney, the Brandon Wheat Kings would be making sandwiches for everybody. The team lost around 225 man games to injury this season, and a couple dozen more to other absences like world juniors. Still, they managed to compile a 38-23-4-3 record despite playing multiple nights with a short bench bolstered by callups.

The 21-year Brandon Wheat Kings forward from Saskatoon, whose team was eliminated in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on April 4, is still friends with guys he met in his first camp when he was 16.
