    The developer behind a plan to renovate a disused former Art Deco bingo hall, cinema and theatre said was his biggest project yet. The Ritz building in Rushden, Northamptonshire, first opened in 1936 and was most recently Flutters Bingo and Social Club. It was bought by Oliver Mcloughlin from Investment Street for £400,000 after it was put up for sale for £625,000 in late 2022. He said he was "going out on limb" by taking on the building.

    A health boss at a county's NHS that has declared a critical incident said its hospitals had been dealing with high demand for more than a month. The NHS in Northamptonshire said there was mounting pressure on health services, which were at full capacity. Ongoing demand, particularly at Northampton and Kettering general hospitals, culminated in the escalation. Dr Naomi Caldwell, deputy chief medical officer, said A&E departments were "incredibly busy".

    People connected to a nightclub that in its heyday hosted La Toya Jackson and Steve Wright have organised a reunion evening 33 years after the venue closed. Top of The Town in Northampton first opened as working men's club in 1978, and was turned into a nightclub in the early 1980s and closed in 1991. In 1988 the venue was bought by the Cohen family, and it was managed by Pete Cohen, who was the father of the rugby player Ben Cohen and the brother of footballer George Cohen.
