The Minnesota Golden Gophers are headed to the Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 3rd to face the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Big Ten Conference has already unveiled the 2025 football schedule for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Without divisions in the conference this year, the Golden Gophers finished eighth in the Big Ten out of the 18 teams with a 7-5 overall record, and a record of 5-4 in the conference.

Travel + Leisure has rolled out a list of the best ski resorts in the Midwest for 2024, and I think they could have added another one or two from the Bold North. I grew up in Minnesota, grew up skiing in Minnesota. A big thank you to my parents for getting me into it when I was young. Young when learning was easier, and falling to the ground was a shorter trip.

This past August I had a faulty kidney removed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. It would have been no benefit to anyone else, but it got me wondering, "if we can live live with just one kidney, how much is the second one worth?"I've battled some health issues off and on for the last twenty or so years. Cancer a couple of times, complications from treatments, bunches of surgeries -- but I've been lucky because its all been fixable. I'm just down a kidney now.

I absolutely love dining out, and between breakfast, lunch and dinner; breakfast is by far my favorite meal to enjoy at a restaurant, cafe, or bar. Not even close. I also love to cook -- but rarely do I feel like rolling up my sleeves on a Sunday morning and dive into the process of making eggs, hashbrowns, a country fried steak, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, grits, English muffins, toast, bacon, ham, sausage, and coffee or a bloody mary or mimosa.

Minnesota is chock full of weird names. In fact, we have a pretty good amount of totally crazy names. Many of the hard-to-pronounce names come courtesy of our native American community. Think Minnetonka, Minneopa, Mendota, Winona, Shakopee, Anoka, Bemidji, Chanhassen, Chaska, Eyota, Kabetogama, Mahtomedi, Nisswa, Owatonna, Waconia, Wayzata. and more. And don't even us started on the names of Minnesota's nearly 12,000 lakes. A plentiful list of more native American inspiration.
