When the residents of Hamilton House in Poplar, east London, received the results of their EWS1 survey, they breathed a sigh of relief. It was June 2020, shortly after the first COVID-19 lockdown ended, and the building safety crisis was wreaking havoc with the leaseholders’ already-disrupted lives. After the Grenfell fire, theyhad been told cladding on their Thameside St David’s Square development was not the same as that used on the tower in west London.
