If you ask any rapper, basically ever, they’re underrated. No one gave them their props for inventing that style everybody uses. They paved the way for your favorite rapper to do that shit they do now, and also, they’re your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper. And they’ve got the biggest dick, which really isn’t talked about enough.

You can’t understand the fire and brimstone of DMX’s most famous songs unless you also take into account his moments of quiet grace. Yasiin Bey never embraced the conscious rap label. But no one embodied it quite like him. He came on the scene with Talib Kweli as Black Star, a duo that dropped their eponymous debut album in 1998. Merging Native Tongues aesthetics with themes of Afrocentrism, the project established Bey and Kweli as streetwise poets with a message – twin messiahs of so-called rap consciousness.

As a born aesthete, Tyler, The Creator’s always thought in shapes and colors rather than hard numbers. He leaves that stuff to folks like Silent House Studios president Alex Reardon, a creative director he’s worked with since Igor. On Sunday night (Oct. 27), fans in L.A.’s Intuit Dome saw the pair’s synergy unfold for Tyler’s listening event for Chromakopia, his eighth studio album that dropped this morning.

It would be easy to call out GloRilla’s Kirk Franklin feature as the moment she got back to her church choir girl roots. But that would be ignoring her core function as a minister for disaffected baddies.
