When philosophers write about and explain actions they focus almost exclusively on so-called “intentional actions.” These are actions that are done for reasons, selected in the light of one’s beliefs and desires. But this narrow focus misses out vast swathes of human action, including habitual, speeded, skilled, and directly emotion-caused actions. Why? In part, it is because in many of these cases we readily fall under the illusion that the actions in question are intentional ones.

The largest tri-hull superyacht in the world estimated to be worth $150m has arrived in Cairns for a seven day stopover. White Rabbit Golf is the largest Australian built superyacht ever produced and is owned by 91-year-old Singapore-based billionaire Goh Cheng Liang. At 84m long the sleek trimaran yacht presented an impressive sight as the vessel sailed up Trinity Inlet before tying up at the Marlin Marina on Thursday. White Rabbit Golf is the sixty-eighth superyacht to Cairns this year.

Police have launched a search of Cassowary Coast waters for a missing fisherman last seen on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday morning police officers were joined by SES crews in the search for a 49-year-old man reported missing from Kurrimine Beach. Initial information from police indicated the man was fishing just north of the Kurrimine Beach boat ramp at around 2.30pm on Monday before he returned to shore.

Police have reached out to the Far North community to help find a 14-year-old girl missing from Palm Cove since Thursday, September 5. The girl, pictured, was last seen getting off a bus on Williams Esplanade, Palm Cove about 4.30pm and has not been seen or heard from since. She was last seen wearing a grey jumper and blue pants. Police and family have serious concerns for her welfare due to her young age. She is described as caucasian, approximately 175cm tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

A trio of Far North sisters have trained together, run together and finished the 7 Cairns Marathon and Community Run Festival together in perfect conditions at the city’s foreshore. Competing in the McDonalds Half Marathon, Cassidy Coffey, Jordyn Lizon and Chuntay Shaw joined more than 3000 other entrants on the Cairns Esplanade on Sunday for the marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km and 2km events. “In the end it was a mental battle, I didn’t think it was going to be that tough,” Ms Coffey said.
