Amateur wildlife photographers have been flocking to a north Belfast park to spot a tropical new arrival. Bedecked with emerald green feathers and a rose-red beak, the ring-neck parakeets have become the star attraction at the Waterworks Park. Originally from the Himalayas, the Indian sub-continent, and parts of Africa, ring-necked parakeets are regularly spotted across the UK, with large populations in London and the south-east of England.

Former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams is among a number of authors whose books may have been accessed by technology company Meta to train their latest AI (artificial intelligence) model. Mr Adams said the books had "been used without his permission", and the matter is now with his solicitor. An investigation by The Atlantic magazine revealed Meta may have accessed millions of pirated books and research papers through LibGen - Library Genesis - to train its generative AI (Gen-AI) system, Llama.

Northern Ireland will take on Belarus on Friday night in a Uefa Nations League match despite guidance from the UK government that Belarus should not be allowed to compete. The due to the country's support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. BBC News NI understands the government is "disappointed" Uefa is allowing the match at Windsor Park in south Belfast to go ahead - however in spite of this it granted visas to Belarusian players and staff.
