That and mistakenly identifying a half-dozen players through the NCAA portal welcomed to Friartown last season and injuries resulted in 20 losses overall, 14 in the Big East Conference.

    By Peter Gobis For the Sun Chronicle PROVIDENCE -- Buoyed by a 20-3 shot advantage during the third period, the Providence Bruins scored four goals over the final 20 minutes to topple the Springfield Thunderbirds 5-1 on Sunday at the AMP to clinch their first-round Calder Cup playoff series. Goalie Mike DiPietro stopped 15 shots, while Providence converted three power-play chances and killed off four Springfield man-advantages to take the series 2-1.
