DF95 Autumn Series event 8 at East Kent Radio Sailing Club

Up to 34 knot gusts were forecast for the last East Kent RSC DF95 event of 2024. Ten members still attended and eight raced, mainly using C rigs, but with the odd D seen! The conditions took their toll with half the fleet failing to survive to race 16.

On a grey December day with 12 to 15 knots 11 DF95 skippers turned up to East Kent Radio SC's Barton's Point Country Park, Ralph Wilkinson again did race officer. Most used A rigs. The wind was from the longest fetch of the lake, testing eyesight at the windward mark and kicking up big enough waves to also test tacking skills.
Podium places were spread throughout the fleet.

The M2 was closed and weather cold but flat water and a 10-12kt northerly allowed 16 races to be completed in East Kent's autumn event at Sheppey. Chair Alan Hounsell set the course, ideal for an east side control area but with all preferring to shelter behind the café and test their eyes rounding the distant leeward gate marks.

Sixteen boats competed in the last 2024 M&S District DF95 Open Travellers event on East Kent's tree free venue on the south side of the Thames/Medway confluence. The consistent 6-8 knot easterly had only just enough shifts to keep things interesting.

DF95 Autumn Series event 4 at East Kent Radio Sailing Club

Sunshine and mid to max wind for A rigs turned up with 11 skippers for the 4th event of East Kent's DF95 Autumn series at Sheppey. A perfect SE direction meant no shifts, but clean starts were essential. The lake was also still weed free.
Spencer Pope, then Rob Maunder took the first 2 wins, from Mike Brand & Rob Owens.

Little wind was forecast but nine boats showed for the return to East Kent's Conningbrook Lakes Ashford venue after a few months break for weed. All were soon reminded of the effect of the surrounding tall trees.
In race one Peter Jackson crept away to a full leg lead, then parked in a hole as Alan Hounsell then Adrian Tomlinson sailed by.
