It hadn’t happened since I retired, but was once an occupational hazard; part of teaching at a university, and thus being someone to whom new graduates turned when they hit the job market or applied for a postgraduate course. Back then, I probably had at least ten to fifteen requests a year; some arrived in the summer when I had hoped to remain off the administrative treadmill.
