Huge thank you to Leone for again supporting the players and putting up a prize each year. The upside is that the course will be in brilliant condition in a few weeks’ time and Logan and Brenton will have ‘tractor seat rears’ from sitting on the machines and cutting the kike that is going to go crazy.

Bill is a living treasure and although not seen as much on the fairways these days his presence is much appreciated and his sponsorship of his yearly event is a sort after prize. Vets GolfJohn DwyerThe sun was shining and the scores were hot when five players posted 40 points or better at last week's twin-towns veterans golf competition played at Parkes. Leading the way was Parkes veterans president Peter Bristol who put together a well compiled 42 points for the 18 holes to finish a stroke better than Forbes' Ken Walton who survived a count-back from John Creith (Parkes) and Wauchope visitor John Keiley.

Parkes Golf ClubBy Peter BristolParkes Golf Club had the honour of hosting the NSW Golf Men’s Country Week Championship at Parkes Golf Club on the weekend. There were 117 representatives from across NSW, excluding the Metropolitan area, represented in an event that plays as an Individual event and also a team’s event with 12 District represented by six team members. Players had to have a GA handicap of 9.4 or less to contest the event.

Vets GolfBy John DwyerSpring weather had vets golfers out in one of the best showings for some time with 35 players taking to the Parkes course last Thursday where the in-form Ken Sanderson took major honors - and well under handicap - with a creditable 40 points. Home town stalwart, the likeable John Pearce led the lefties home to be runner-up with 39 points, usually good enough for first prize.

VETS GOLFBy John DwyerSteve Edwards is one of the better supporters of twin-towns veterans golf and received rewards last Thursday winning with a well compiled 38 points on his adopted ‘home’ course Forbes. Back home from his winter break and on the ball hitting ‘em well was fellow club member Ken Sanderson who was runner-up with 35 points on a count-back, while Parkes’ Richard Hamilton went home early with the encouragement award.

VETS GOLFLocals dominated the Lachlan Valley Veterans Golf Championship at West Wyalong last week wining the scratch events in all three grades. Heading the West Wyalong trifecta was A grader Ben McCormack who shot a five over par 77 to win by three strokes from Condobolin's Brad Hurley.
