The charity running the financially troubled Dartington estate has announced the eighth resignation from its trustee ranks since Lord David Triesman took over as chair just over two years ago. The impending resignation of Rachel Watson will reduce the board membership at Dartington Hall Trust by two-thirds compared to the number in October 2023.

Dartington Hall Trust has given itself an extra six months of breathing space before being required to file a new set of accounts, so staving off for limited period any new examination of its finances by outsiders. As a result of a techical manouvre that came to light on Monday the trust will now need to publish its latest accounts by December 31 this year, as opposed to the end of next month that would have been the requirement under the previous reporting arrangements.

A business restructuring expert with links to the entertainment and hospitality industries has joined the trustee board at Dartington Hall Trust, in a sign of the charity’s priorities. David Lovett worked for more than 30 years in senior positions at Arthur Andersen and Alix Partners, two big global “restructuring” consultancies advising companies and other organisations which had hit difficulties.

A key specialist accountancy board member at Dartington Hall Trust has stepped down, a further departure from its trustee ranks as the charity grapples with difficult decisions ahead of a planned uplift in its fortunes. Chris Maw – who became a trustee in December 2019 – quit as on Friday (14th March), according to documents filed with the government’s Companies House.
