A lawyer made an unexpected court appearance Monday on behalf of Ryan Wood in Barrie. Wood, head of the Purple Cobras youth hockey outfit, was charged with sexual assault almost two weeks ago in relation to an alleged incident in May in Barrie. Wood was released on his own recognizance with a June 30 court date. His case has now been put over until Sept. 8 and the original June 30 date has been vacated.
