This boom presents an opportunity for the United States to develop and strengthen its battery supply chain while creating tens of thousands of jobs across the battery production process. This paper projects that the growing U.S. battery industry will create 84,000 to 125,000 domestic jobs by 2032.

Over the months leading up to yesterday’s release of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s final multi-pollutant standards for new light-duty vehicles, the amount of misinformation, disinformation, and misleading headlines seemed higher than ever. Now that we have certainty about the final text, we can appreciate what the rule is, what it never was, and the benefits it will bring. The rule does not mandate a shift to electric vehicles.

In 2008, US taxpayers bailed out US automakers to the tune of billions of dollars. What did we get in exchange? Among other things, a promise that automakers would do more and better to promote cleaner vehicles. They’ve had lots of chances to make good on that promise in the last 15 years.
