Micheal Ahoua covered himself with gold, winning all three of the jumping events he entered at the NVL track and field championships. The Raiders baseball team couldn't quite come back in a 6-5 loss to Woodland in the first round of the NVL baseball tournament.

    TORRINGTON — At some point in the near-future, about 1,300 kids from all four of Torrington’s elementary schools will barrel off school buses at the Torrington Middle School in a massive collaboration between the school department, high school mentors and grade school teachers to promote Torrington youth fitness and health in an annual event called Kids Marathon. Originally scheduled for Thursday, winter-like weather has pushed it off to Monday, June 9.

    WINSTED — Bill Richmond, the exuberant "Voice of the Yellowjackets" at The Gilbert School, died of a heart attack Monday, May 5. He was 62. Richmond had been scheduled to host Gilbert’s annual sports award banquet at the end of this month. Now, an important part of the May 30 awards ceremony will celebrate his life and legacy.
