As another school year winds down with graduations sometimes coinciding with track and field's special events - decathlon/pentathlon, hammer throw and steeple chase - at New Britain's Willow Brook Park, one graduation number stands out in a review of the 2024-25 Northwest Corner high school sports year. Shepaug Valley High School in Washington, Conn. celebrated 80 seniors in its graduating class, one of the smallest in the state.

WASHINGTON DEPOT - Shepaug Valley High School capped a perfect Berkshire League baseball season (17-0) with an 11-6 win over Nonnewaug on Wednesday afternoon in the championship game of the league's first-ever postseason tournament at Ted Alex Field. "It was back and forth - and sloppy on both sides at times," said Shepaug coach Scott Werkhoven. "But there were also some great plays on both sides and it was an exciting game.

BEACON FALLS - Two Torrington High School teams and one individual exemplified the playoff experience for athletes and fans last Saturday at Woodland High School at the start of long siege yet to come. Micheal Ahoua covered himself with gold, winning all three of the jumping events he entered at the NVL track and field championships. The Raiders baseball team couldn't quite come back in a 6-5 loss to Woodland in the first round of the NVL baseball tournament.
