Article The prevalence of dental caries worldwide has seen a steady decline in the past 50 years, largely due to the wide use of fluoride.1 Typically, early carious lesions (white spot lesions) are present on tooth surfaces most commonly missed during oral hygiene, and where plaque accumulates easily – the proximal (Figure 1) and cervical margins (Figure 2).
