Last year, Shure introduced the Nexadyne series of microphones, one of the first major shifts in a while for the company, which is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary. As someone who worked for a competing mic manufacturer for 15 years, I was very intrigued, and also initially a bit skeptical. Earthworks has been around for a while; it’s a family-owned company in New England (specifically, Milford, New Hampshire) that has a reputation for designing high-quality microphones at a price point that’s usually not for the faint of heart.
