Peyton Bair of Mississippi State and Arvesta Troupe of Ole Miss won national titles at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships in Eugene, Oregon. Bair was first in the decathlon on June 12 after runner-up finish in 2024. The junior scored a school record 8,323 points and won comfortably by 435. It was the 14th highest total in NCAA history and the 10th best at the NCAA championships.

Former Carson-Newman coach Ken Sparks, Tennessee coach Josh Heupel, and Vols receivers Willie Gault and Larry Seivers are on the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. Sparks, who died in 2017, won 338 games and five NAIA national titles at Carson-Newman. Heupel led Oklahoma to the 2000 national championship as quarterback. Gault and Seivers were All-American receivers at Tennessee, with Gault also excelling in track and field.
