The Mets can't afford to have another injury to an everyday player, so when Jeff McNeil seemingly hurt his hamstring and was pulled in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Diamondbacks, there was some worry. Luckily for the Mets, it seems McNeil came out of the game relatively unscathed. Advertisement"Felt like a cramp in the left hamstring, but he’s fine," Carlos Mendoza said. "I was going to be aggressive anyway with [Jose] Azocar there. Trainers took a look at him, he's fine.

The bulk reliever is used to pitching multiple innings, but Boone was very happy with the results. AdvertisementThe left-hander allowed just one run on one hit and three walks in four innings.

Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe may have avoided the worst during Saturday's game against the Rays -- at least that's the initial diagnosis. With the Yankees up 2-1 in the eighth, Volpe ranged to his right on a grounder hit in the hole between short and third base. Volpe dove for the grounder, but his left shoulder slammed into the ground on the attempt. The third-year Yankee stayed on the ground for a noticeably long time as manager Aaron Boone and the trainers came out to tend to their infielder.
