Elenis, the six conservative judges of the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it is perfectly legal for business owners to refuse to serve homosexuals. All judicial justifications and verbiage aside, this ruling is based—squarely and simply—upon the traditional religious belief that there is a magical, invisible, all-powerful deity who disapproves of homosexuality.

    In America these days, more houses of worship are closing than opening. A 2019 study by Lifeway Research analyzed 34 Protestant denominations and found that while 3,000 new denominations opened that year, a larger number, 4,500, shut down. “Even before the pandemic, the pace of opening new congregations was not even providing enough replacements for those that closed their doors,” said Scott McConnell, executive director of Lifeway Research.

    (RNS) — The decline of religion in America continues. Last week, Gallup released new data showing that standard Christian beliefs are at all-time lows. Back in 2001, 90% of Americans believed in God; that figure is now down to 74%. Belief in heaven has gone from 83% down to 67%; belief in hell from 71% down to 59%; belief in angels from 79% down to 69%; belief in the devil from 68% down to 58%.
