Ulm (energate) - Stadtwerke Ulm/Neu-Ulm (SWU) has had to cope with a slump in earnings. Last year, the southern German municipal utility generated a profit after tax of 4.7 million euros, almost 25 per cent less than in the previous year. Like other basic suppliers, SWU is also feeling the increased competitive pressure in energy sales from low-cost suppliers who are regaining strength.

Paris (energate) - The electricity exchange Epex Spot has a new Chief Financial Officer. Diana Rodrigues will take up her position on 1 June, the exchange announced. The new CFO comes from the Joint Allocation Office (JAO), a joint venture of Europe's transmission system operators based in Luxembourg. As a service provider, JAO is responsible for the allocation of cross-border grid capacities.
