The Des Moines City Council approved a $500,000 incentive to help developers acquire land to build an "affordable" apartment building on Ingersoll Avenue. Husband and wife duo Scott and Molly Cutler of Cutler Development plan to build the $12.5 million, 28-unit Goldfinch Lofts at 3404 Ingersoll Ave. The units will be made available to households earning 30% to 80% of the area's median income, according to a memo sent to council members.

The Des Moines City Council approved a plan May 5 to move Principal Park's bullpens from the foul territory to new areas off the field as part of ongoing renovations to the 33-year-old stadium. The city-owned home of the Iowa Cubs is in the midst of years of renovations to make the park more modern and keep it compliant with new Major League Baseball standards for minor league ballparks created in 2021. Principal Park is the third-oldest AAA stadium in the country.
