1 INTRODUCTION Climate change is posing an increasing threat to the survival of many species and is expected to result in the loss of species at the local or global level (Panetta et al., 2018; Urban, 2015; Wiens, 2016). Non-climatic factors, such as anthropogenic land use change, are further threatening species through degradation of habitat, changes in land cover, and fragmentation (Haddad et al., 2015; Horváth et al., 2019; van Strien et al., 2019).

4.1 Opportunities for future work A multitude of different R packages have been developed in the past to assist with the construction of SDMs (see: dismo [Hijmans et al., 2022], sdm [Naimi & Aráujo, 2016], biomod2 [Thuiller et al., 2023], HMSC [Tikhonov et al., 2020] to mention a few); however, none of them have methods to create ISDMs—thus providing a novelty of PointedSDMs. Despite this, there are still extensions to the PointedSDMs framework which should considered to extend the project...
