    A judge suffered a setback after the Court of Appeal set aside a judgement by the Environment and Land Court (ELC) which had declared him the owner of three parcels of land in Takaungu, Kilifi County. Appellate judges Gatembu Kairu, Pauline Nyamweya, and Kibaya Laibuta ruled that the ELC erred in concluding that Justice Charles Chemutut had established his case to the required standard.

    The Speaker and the Clerk of the National Assembly have objected to a petition by a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) of Mombasa seeking inclusion of the Ward Development Fund (WDF) in a constitution (Amendment) Bill. The Clerk argues that the inclusion or exclusion of any fund including WDF is a legislative prerogative provided it complies with constitutional principles.

    Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho has denied owing SBM Bank (Kenya) Ltd Sh54.5 million loan arrears as at August 1 last year. Mr Joho, who wants the case against him by the bank dismissed with costs, says that in 2014 he was advanced a loan of Sh40 million by Chase Bank Kenya Ltd, which later went into receivership, and not SBM Bank (Kenya) Ltd that took over in 2018.
