ANIMAL WATCH - A picture of a large Pit Bull resting in an open carrier adorns a notice by Los Angeles Animal Services (City/LAAS) stating:  “Emergency Preparedness -- Be Prepared,”  Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control (DACC) similtaneously announced, “Emergency  Animal  Sheltering Sites for Los Angeles County Wildfires. Both of these agencies affirm they are open to take in ALL animals in need during the current fire disaster.

ANIMAL WATCH - 2024 was a shocking year for media reports on what seem to be some of the most savage Pit Bull attacks reported—and an alarming number on babies or small children dying due to misinformation on the dangers of this breed-- but there is a lack of initiative nationwide to try to stop them.

ANIMAL WATCH - Three Pit Bulls involved in a September 2024 deadly mauling of a pet 13-year old Border Collie  in the City of Kamloops’ North Shore were later caught by Kamloops bylaw officials, according to City Community Services Manager Will Beatty. (Photo of Border Collie – not actual victim) All three of the Pit Bulls scaled a fence and savagely mauled a 13-year-old Border Collie, named Heidi, to death just after 6:00 a.m. and then jumped back out.

ANIMAL WATCH - Cockfighting is illegal in every state in the USA, although individual laws exist in each state as to the penalty. The final state in the country to make cockfighting illegal was  Louisiana, where the practice of this blood sport was banned in 2007 (effective Aug. 2008).

ANIMAL WATCH - A pit bull named “Buddha,” one of four owned by 73-year-old Jeraline Brady-McGinnis and her husband, fatally attacked her and seriously injured her husband as he tried to intervene. The attack occurred on November 18 inside their first-floor apartment in Roxbury, MA, according to a Boston Police Department report. (Initially, the dog was identified as “Deuce,” another of the couple’s pit bulls.) Two responding police officers were also injured in trying to control the violent dog.
