As the meme goes, I’m the parent of a neurodivergent child so of course I go to parent-teacher interviews ready for the worst. Things aren’t always easy for families like ours. Sometimes our children get bullied or struggle to make friends. I know kids who never want to leave the house. And at school, plenty of them get in trouble for just being themselves. Think about your child at four years old, and now think about them today. Maybe today they’re in their first year if primary school, or they're midway through year eight in high school. Sure, they probably have better focus, their vocabulary is better, their ideas and thoughts are more complex. But the thing I’ve noticed as my kids have grown older is that their creativity is waning.
