The Atlanta Braves had a relatively quiet offseason after suffering some bad injury luck in 2024 and it seems their fortunes haven’t changed much. They opened the year with superstars Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider on the injured list. And their biggest winter acquisition, Jurickson Profar, was quickly suspended for 80 games after violating Major League Baseball’s performance enhancing drug (PED) policy.

The Boston Red Sox haven’t enjoyed a strong start after a full throttle offseason. The team has a losing record through its first 19 games, even after acquiring ace Garrett Crochet, promoting top prospect Kristian Campbell and signing star third baseman Alex Bregman. Though the team has struggled out of the gate, the decision to bring in Bregman seems like it’s paying off. The two-time All-Star is slashing .321/.365/.564 with a league-leading 25 hits and seven doubles in 78 at-bats so far.

Despite some harsh pitcher injuries, the Yankees can feel good about the start to their season. Even after losing Juan Soto, one of the best hitters in baseball, the team ranks toward the top in plenty of offensive categories. Meanwhile, Soto is taking a little longer to adjust to his new life with the New York Mets. Since heading to Queens on a $765 million contract, Soto has slashed just .250/.392/.467, well below his career averages across the board.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a lot to celebrate after an aggressive offseason coming on the heels of their latest World Series championship. The team added stars like Blake Snell, Tanner Scott and Roki Sasaki to a roster that already included Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. But that depth can mean that talented players can face significant pressure to perform, or find themselves benched or optioned quickly.
