The promise was richer, more context-aware controls, specifically catering to podcast playback within YouTube Music, including actions like fast forward/rewind, playback speed adjustment, and queue management. Following the roll-out of Wear OS 5.1 last month, Google is now pushing out an April 2025 update for its Pixel Watch lineup that includes the Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and the latest Pixel Watch 3. This update, carrying the build number BP1A.250305.019.W7, appears to be primarily focused on bug fixes, building upon the foundation of Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15 most users have installed already.

Google has finally released the sporty-looking Pixel Watch band that was teased alongside the Pixel Watch 3 back in August. This band caught my eye immediately but was never actually put on sale, but now the Performance Loop Band is available on the Google Store!This band definitely seems geared towards the athletic crowd.

I’ve been sitting on this for a bit, but last night was the right time for me to move back over to my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. I’ve had the foldable itch for about a month at this point, but I’ve declined to make the actual move over. I spent a few days with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and while it is a lovely device, I actually find the ergonomics to be a bit better with the Z Fold 5 for my use cases.

Google’s new Pixel Watch 3 (in two sizes this year) is just around the corner, and with it, we have updated info regarding the software support timeline: three years of “guaranteed software updates.” While it may be a tad bit unrealistic to expect Google’s whopping 7 years of support for Pixel phones to migrate over to wearables, I suppose we were hoping for a bit more longevity this time around with Apple Watches tending to get anywhere from 4-6 years of software support.

It’s been three years since Google acquired Fitbit, and the landscape of smartwatches has shifted significantly in that time frame.
