The KARLS Group is thriving — first a Michelin star at Beta KL, and now a new home for Skillet KL in the swish Menara Hap Seng 3. It’s about time the group’s first child got an upgrade, and at our recent visit to the restaurant, we think it’s heading in the right direction. Located on the first floor of Menara Hap Seng 3, the newly-opened restaurant — dubbed Skillet 2.0 — is vastly different from its predecessor at Colmar Suites.

I believe I speak for regular people when I say that we don’t typically change our smartphones every year—which is why my upgrade from the iPhone 12 Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro deserves its own long-term review. The launch of the iPhone 16 series were particularly exciting for several reasons, with some including the new Camera Control button, camera features, and—one that I was personally excited for—the Audio Mix and general audio capabilities that came with video recording.

Growing up, cousins Abel and Shirley Chia* were close. Their families lived in the same neighbourhood and being the same ages, they attended school together. While they didn’t hang out in the same friend groups at school, they remained privy to each other’s life happenings. Abel knew when Shirley had her first kiss in high school.
