Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common metabolic and reproductive condition affecting females of reproductive age (1). PCOS is characterized by hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and/or polycystic ovarian morphology (2). Obesity is more common in women with PCOS compared to women without (3), and women with PCOS are more likely to be affected by insulin resistance irrespective of body mass index (BMI) (4).
