AbstractThis study proposes a novel approach to improve the classification of severe building losses caused by river floods (i.e., identification of buildings with high flood damages). In addition to traditional variables reflecting flood hazard and building vulnerability, we investigate the impact of coping capacity variables (i.e., variables accounting for the preparedness and disaster response of the population and management authorities).

We leverage the ITA-ELECTION-2022 dataset of tweets related to the 2022 Italian election provided by [35] and collected by using tweepyFootnote 1 Python library to query Twitter v1.1 Filter streaming API endpointFootnote 2 in the period September 2nd, 2022 - October 20th, 2022. This includes election day, as they were held on September 25th, 2022.

AbstractThis article provides methodological insights to evaluate the socio-economic risk of an emerging froth flotation technology for the mining sector with the goal of guiding the design and development process. This technology is used to separate valuable particles based on surface properties among minerals and, if properly developed, could be used to valorize fine particles that currently existing technology cannot separate and thus become waste material.
