    Thane: A 73-year-old man has been arrested from Thane district for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in her house, police said on Monday. The accused and girl are acquainted with each other, an official said. The complainant stated that the accused visited her house in the Ambernath area on August 9 when her family members were not present. "He gagged the girl and raped her. He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident," the official said.

    New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) response on a plea by former Delhi minister Satyendar Kumar Jain challenging an order taking cognisance of a charge sheet against him and others in a money laundering case. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna issued notice to the ED on Satyendar Kumar Jain's petition and asked it to file a status report within 15 days. The court listed the matter for further hearing on August 22.

    Mumbai: The 2008 Malegaon blast that killed six people and left over 100 injured was carried out with the intention to create communal rift and endanger internal security of the state, the prosecution said while making its final arguments in the case. The final arguments in the case, in which seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Thakur and Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, are facing trial, began on Thursday, almost 16 years after the incident.
