Find and share the perfect poems. For ValorieFirst a flabby belittlement by some well-meaning white folks when they cross me because they weren’t meaning to, they say. It was only that I had become wholly invisible  and they enjoy their heaping, entitled vocalizations that enforce their platforms of corporeal speech. But through this I learned that I had no real power to wield,  and this crown I wore, glittering in green fermentation, put my head into a state of chronic query.

I was reminded of my mother while admiring it,as she loves miscible jewelry all over hands and wrists. I thought one moment garish,even as I was raised in this quality and felt it was a real acquisition. I was cutfrom my mother’s cloth because I agreed wholeheartedly in how I couldn’t help my ownmixing, my own tastelessness.

On March 22, Pomona College held a 90th birthday tribute to celebrate civil rights activist Myrlie Evers-Williams PO ’68. Family, friends, alumni and staff were invited, along with Evers-Williams, to view the archival collection that she recently donated to the college and to hear from a variety of important figures in Evers-Williams’ life.
