Kannada filmmaker Nagshekhar’s spiritual sequel to his earlier Sanju Weds Geetha , Sanju Weds Geeth a 2, which had Bahuparaak fame Srinagara Kitty paired with Matinee actress Rachita Ram, released in theatres in January this year. The film ran into legal issues days before its release, forcing a slight postponement and eventually came out on January 17, 2025.

In January 2025, it was revealed the Minnal Murali maker Basil Joseph’s next directorial would take him to Bollywood. The Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham, Nunakkuzhi , PonMan, Pravinkoodu Shappu and Maranamass actor was roped in to adapt the iconic TV superhero character Shaktimaan for the big screen with none other than Ranveer Singh in the lead, with Wamiqa Gabbi on board as the leading lady. The film was said to be ready to roll by May 2025, with a Diwali 2026 release date as target.

Curfew, a British crime drama series led by Sarah Parish, which released in the UK in October 2024, has now got a streaming partner and date for Indian audiences. The show, which originally came out on Paramount+ for audiences in the UK and Ireland, will head to Lionsgate Play on May 16. All 6-episodes of the show based on Jayne Cowie’s novel After Dark will be available to binge on the platform.

In his 10 film-old career, Kannada director Shashank has done three films with Krishna Ajai Rao (Krishnan Love Story , Krishna Leela and Thayige Thakka Maga ), so he’s no stranger to working with one hero repeatedly. The filmmaker, whose last release was Kousalya Supraja Rama with Darling Krishna in the lead, has collaborated with the actor yet again on a film called Brat, filming of which is nearly complete.
