In a daring and surprise raid, tactical teams of the Department of State Services (DSS) with back up from the Military, have degraded about 45 bandits around Kuchi town, Munya Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, The Nation gathered on Wednesday. Twenty-three suspects have been arrested by the Lagos Police Command in Mushin over alleged public disturbances, including harassment, assaults and stealing from traders’ shops during raids of Ishaga, Awolowo and Ojuwoye markets. There had been complaints about the activities of young boys aged between 12 and 16, allegedly terrorising residents and traders. It was alleged that the teenagers were moving around, attacking and robbing victims in daylight.

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has said the Special Operations Command in Makurdi is to coordinate training for operatives fighting on land. He said the command would play a part in the navy’s spectrum maritime security strategy, which requires well-trained and equipped land fighting forces to complement civil authority. Ogalla spoke on a national television programme.
