The Whitehall-Coplay School District is tapping an internal candidate for the district’s superintendent. The school board Monday night also ratified a new teachers contract and said the final goodbyes to departing superintendent Robert Steckel. Steckel announced his resignation in September; he is leaving for a job in the private sector and aided in the search for a new superintendent over the last few months.

Lines stretched around the block Tuesday at polling sites across the Lehigh Valley as people waited, sometimes for hours, to cast ballots in what polls indicate is an extremely close presidential race between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump. At the Banana Factory in south Bethlehem, where many Lehigh University students waited for the chance to cast their ballots, some for the first time, the wait was more than five hours, according to some people in line.
