1 INTRODUCTION Grylloblattodea, an extremely small monophyletic branch of the class Insecta, has low species diversity. It is the second order in the class Insecta after Mantophasmatidea. Grylloblattodea with ancient origin, dating back to the Carboniferous period (most abundant in the Permian and Triassic periods), is considered the “living fossil” of modern insects (Walker, 1937).
