DENVER — No lottery luck for the Colorado Rockies. Going into Tuesday night's 2025 MLB draft lottery, Colorado was tied with the Miami Marlins for the best odds to land the No. 1 overall pick, at 22.5% for the top selection. The Rockies, however, were assigned the No. 4 overall pick and will select after the Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners. The Marlins also had a disappointing night as they ended up with the No. 7 pick.

DENVER — Twice is nice for the Colorado Rockies. Brenton Doyle and Ezequiel Tovar were named recipients of the 2024 National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award at their respective positions on Sunday night. At 23 years and 60 days old at the end of the season, Tovar is the youngest shortstop to win a Gold Glove in National League history. He's the second-youngest winner in franchise history overall, behind Nolan Arenado in 2013.

DENVER β Ball Arena erupted before the game even began. Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon was expected to be honored ahead of the team's home opener at Ball Arena Saturday night. But the surprise was how he was honored. MacKinnon won both the Hart Memorial Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award in June as the Most Valuable Player of the 2023-24 NHL season. So who better to present the MVP with his hardware?
University of Denver ranked atop college hockey preseason poll

DENVER — The University of Denver is still on top of the college hockey world. All eyes remain on the Pioneers, who are coming off an NCAA-record 10th national championship title, as the first rankings for the upcoming 2024-25 season were released Monday. DU came in at No. 1 in the USA Hockey preseason poll, receiving 27 out of 34 first-places votes for 670 total points. The next-closest team was Boston College with 644 points and four first-place votes.

DENVER — A Colorado Rockies legend is putting a bow on his MLB career. Charlie Blackmon announced via social media Monday that he will be retiring after playing 14 seasons in the major leagues, all in a Colorado uniform. The 38-year-old has hit .292 with 991 runs scored, 1,797 hits, 333 doubles, 67 triples, 226 home runs, 797 RBI and 148 stolen bases over 1,618 MLB games played.

LAS VEGAS — Nate the Great. Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon is the 2023-24 recipient of the NHL's Hart Memorial Trophy, presented “to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team,” as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

NEW YORK — A pair of CU Buffs are going from Boulder to the pros. Cody Williams and Tristan da Silva, who played significant roles for the University of Colorado men's basketball team, were both selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft on Wednesday night. Williams heard his name called first at Barclays Center when the Utah Jazz took the 6-foot-8 forward with the No. 10 overall pick.

DENVER — M-V-3. Denver Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic has been named the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the third time in four years. Jokic became the first player in franchise history to win the league's MVP award in 2021 and repeated in 2022. He was denied a third-straight last season when Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers won the 2023 MVP. Despite missing the 2023 season MVP, Jokic led Denver to its first-ever NBA championship and was named the Finals MVP last June.
