Editor’s note: One of the more legendary figures to make his way through the rabbit warren cubicles of the Village Voice, Jules Feiffer passed away at age 95 this past Friday. In 2018, I had the pleasure of interviewing the Bronx-born cartoonist, playwright, screenwriter, comic-book writer, children’s book author and illustrator, and entertaining raconteur.

Editor’s note: The Voice has had a very mixed track record for political endorsements. Among others, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, and Al Gore — whom editorial dissenters in 2000 endorsed over the top editors’ choice in a sidebar titled, “Nader: Unsafe on Any Issue” — never became President of the United States.
