    For millennial parents, the wave of “gentle parenting” has been impossible to ignore. Many of us have adopted this style of parenting, perhaps as a rebellion against the way we were raised ourselves. Many “traditional” or “authoritarian” parenting practices rooted in behaviorist principles (time outs, punishments, being seen but not heard) have been reevaluated and often replaced with more respectful, child-centered approaches. This is a good thing, and a sign of progress to be sure.

    Just like nearly everyone else on the planet, my husband and I recently finished Adolescence, the new British mini series explodingon Netflix. The show is raw, entertaining and incredibly well produced (each episode is filmed in just one take without any cuts) and has stirred up a lot of conversations online. If you haven’t watched it yet, you absolutely should, but I’ll give you my main takeaways (without spoilers although the show isn’t really spoilable).

    Before diving into this week’s piece on self-care, I thought it would be helpful to hear from some of you! I realize I come from a place of immense privilege— I work on my own schedule, my husband is a stay-at-home dad, I have access to childcare etc.
