Spring may be a season of change, but for my household it comes with a few certainties: I will eat too many malted candy eggs, my dad will call to check in on the bulbs he planted, and a butterfly-growing kit will arrive in the mail. My very thoughtful in-laws, Paul and Susan, first sent our family a butterfly kit when the kids were toddlers, and have managed to keep up the tradition long-distance for almost a decade now.

As an antiques enthusiast, I will always have a soft spot for a beautiful old woven basket, whether it's a Danish laundry basket, hinged picnic basket, or even a weathered wicker fishing creel. There's something so beautiful about their humble, handcrafted quality and pretty patina. That's also why I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to modern-made baskets—at least the ones you can find at mass retailers.
