Dunbar Borough Council is continuing to work on taking care of a rat issue near Church Street in the borough. The Dunbar and Connellsville areas were hit with a lot of rain very quickly Tuesday evening causing just a few issues, but nothing major. The Connellsville Canteen recently played host to Clare Drobot who was invited to the venue to talk about her grandparents’ journey as Holocaust survivors. Drobot, a Pittsburgh-based playwright and co-artistic director of City Theatre, found out later in life that her grandparents were Holocaust survivors and because they didn’t talk about their experiences she has spent countless hours researching their history and their experience.

While the annual Dunbar Community Fest was in jeopardy of folding last week, organizers confirmed it will be held this September. The Connellsville Municipal Authority is seeing progress on a project it recently approved to replace the service stairwell and support structure along the river by the Memorial Boulevard bridge. The purpose of the stairwell is to provide emergency access to the sewage plant if the stream near the plant is ever in a condition that renders the access road unusable but the stairwell that’s being replaced was not safe for anyone to use.

South Connellsville authorities are concerned with the number of electric scooters and bikes that are being operated by youth on roadways. MaryAnn and Bill Bauer and the John and Susan Coleman families are teaming up to help raise funds for the Connellsville Parks & Recreation Board. At the parks and recreation board meeting, President James Flynn said the families want to host an event in East Park where they will set up eight tables and at each table there will be a specialty drink and an appetizer and also a game, which could be anything from beer pong to a 50-yard dash.
