Led by Councilman Chris Wiltrout, South Connellsville Council is committed to updating the park for the community. A restroom is currently in the final stages of remodel and Wiltrout is hoping to get started on playground equipment and other park improvements. Vanderbilt residents and officials are getting frustrated with the amount of destructive behavior that teens are causing in neighborhoods. Council President Duane King said they have gotten several complaints of young people throwing things and being destructive in a borough church parking lot, harassing neighbors and in general causing chaos.

The Connellsville Municipal Authority will be saving a significant amount of money in its budget after putting out for bid for sludge removal. Up until now the authority has not had a contract for sludge removal and has been paying Republic $695.45 per haul with an $80.52 disposal charge and about a $20 liner fee.

Members of the Connellsville Parks & Recreation Board are teaming up with the Greater Connellsville Chamber of Commerce and Somerset Bank to sponsor the first Connellsville Easter Egg Hunt on April 13 at East Park. James Flynn, president of the parks and recreation board, said they will have 12,000 eggs filled with candy for children to find and they will also be giving out prizes, which have been donated by local businesses and private citizens in the community.

Taxpayers within the Mt. Pleasant Area School District got the first look at the preliminary summary for the 2025-26 budget. While business manager JR Dzurica said there’s still work to be done until board members are asked to pass a final budget at its June 25 meeting, the proposed budget currently shows total revenues at $39,077,600 and total expenditures at $39,906,864, which leaves a deficit of $829,264.
